Tracing the Threads of History and Fantasy

Deer Valley

Deer Valley

I do pure landscape pictures too rarely, especially since I do have a whole sim to play with and practice my landscaping skills—and they do need practicing. But I am fairly pleased with the idea I had here, of combining some of Fanatik’s PBR releases to create a secluded wetland in a canyon, where my two Teegle deer could graze in peace. I showed off the stag during the Fantasy Faire, and then I picked up the doe as well at the very end of the Faire. They make a very pretty pair and I am hoping there will be some additional coats soon, I would to do a scene of a knight hunting a white hart.

Fantasy Faire 2025: Ghost in the Grotto

Fantasy Faire 2025: Ghost in the Grotto

Delving deep into Yuum Baalal Grotto is not for the faint of heart. There is old magic here, the air is thick with it, and you never know when something long gone might rise again.

A Ghostmare seemed like the steed of choice here, with mysterious markings across her shining coat (by new-to-me brand Auro) and her beautiful tack (from the Flying Pony) something out of a fairy tale. And for our intrepid explorer, fine armour with a mirror sheen to it (courtesy of Mesh Entity) and a magical elven sword (by Sarer-S-Creations). Even so, one must tread carefully.

The Ghostmare series of coats are all quite lovely, with PBR as well as fallback textures. There are also special RFL editions available. The Russell tack has a great fantasy look to it and that is always great to have on hand when a more modern set would look out of place. It, too, has lovely PBR textures. The same goes for the armour, which really has a superb sheen in the right light. And the sword is a very pretty fantasy sword which includes a HUD with some cool magic effects.

Fantasy Faire 2025: Oh Deer

Fantasy Faire 2025: Oh Deer

Apologies for the title. Fantasy Faire 2025 is here (and I have never been so late on my first post, but life is crazy and its in the middle of Easter) and of course that means fabulous new releases from Teegle as well as a gorgeous Fantasy Faire sim built by the team.

Fantasy Faire, now on its 17th year, is one of the main events in Second Life raising money for the American Cancer Society through RFL - the Relay for Life. During the Fantasy Faire, you can shop new exclusive releases where the sale proceeds go to RFL as well as participate in a huge number of events that raise funds in various ways.

You are getting a video to get a hint of what the Wraithwoods have to offer and a good look at one of the new creatures, the Whitetail Stag, as well as quick peeks at the other releases. So far Teegle has out three new creatures, three new tack sets and three RFL releases.

In the video you can also see my new outfit and my new horns, the former being by Petrichor & Ersch and the latter by just Petrichor. With its bones, leaves and berries, the Karvani set felt suited to the wilds of the Wraithwood and the Yuen horns took my avatar from human to something a little different. Both come with extensive customisation options both in terms of textures and hiding/showing parts of the design. You will find Petrichor, with a huge amount of new releases available, on the Mire of Whispers sim. Also on Mire of Whispers are Analog Dog and the Stream hair is a new release for the Faire.

Basilica Marius

Basilica Marius

Del-ka Aedilis has a brand new Rome Series with a whole range of public roman buildings. I hope to be featuring quite a few of these and I am starting with the Basilica Marius. In Ancient Rome, the basilika was a multi-purpose public building, used by the court system as well as for other official functions. Every Roman town would have one in the center, usually next to the forum and often opposite of a temple. The Basilica Marius is a large, beautifully textured building, with an expansive space within that would be perfect for roleplay.

I found myself in dire need of some new-ish Roman (or at least Roman-inspired) clothing, but could not find anything I liked that would fit a basilika. However, how about that horse that Caligular wanted to make a consul? Perhaps he could put in an appearance?
