Tracing the Threads of History and Fantasy

Digging Deep

Digging Deep

The road narrows as it rises, carved between rough stone and scrub grass, until it reaches the entrance of the mine. Inside rests the promise of riches, but also danger.

Lore has been creating some really interesting landscaping for roleplay lately and their most recent release at We Love Role-Play is no exception. The set features a mine entrance (with or without doors), mine carts, rails for the cart and of course a pickaxe. I wanted to combine the mine entrance with some Fanatik landscaping that I’ve yet to cover, so I opted for a dirt road leading up to the mine rather than building out the rails. This also makes it look more like an ancient fantasy mine, where you’d be working entirely by hand to haul out your treasures.

My miner is so far looking clean and tidy in his shirt Eamon shirt from Stitched, but it does include dirty and bloody versions as well if you want a more worn and rugged look. The slightly scruffy skin, a SeraPlus gift from Not Found, suits the look perfectly.

Like I said, the landscape is all made up of different releases from Fanatik; cavern, road, rugged rocks, shrubbery and rock walls.  Together they create a believable transition from open terrain to carved rock, with subtle elevation shifts and texture variation that keep the space from feeling flat.

The Brewer is in Town

The Brewer is in Town

The brewer has come to town to sell his wares, with a wagon full of bottles and barrells. This neat prop by RiG! Artifact Design is available at the current round of We Love Role-Play. It includes two seated and one standing animation for male and female avatars. The horse is not included, it is Teegle’s Irish Cob which I just added in for some colour. The house in the background is also a new release for the event, Moon Coven’s Medieval Fine House, an elegant two-story building for a medieval town or village.

Finally we have the Marl Tunic from Stitched, available for Jake and Legacy. The belt is integral but the tunic can be worn with or without sleeves.

Brooding in Solitude

Brooding in Solitude

A lonely keep sits deep in the woods, hard to reach in the summer and nigh impossible during the winter when, as now, the snow blankets everything. Within, a solitary occupant who seems to prefer the isolation that his home provides.

We Love Role-Play usually has quite a few finds for male as well as female avatars. For this round, Stitched has released a nice outfit with a tunic and pants. There are two versions of both: a regular fit and a sash-fit of the tunic and a regular fit and a boot-fit of the pants. You can also turn off parts of the tunic, such as collar and sleeves. The supported bodies are Belleza Jake and Legacy Male.

The keep itself, of which you’re just seeing part of the interior, is from Nocturna Deed. It is built on quite a large scale, so I feel a little small next to the windows. However, the fireplace from Angelicus fits in quite well. The mirror from Constraint looks a little small viewed right next to the windows, but its all about the angles you choose to use for photos.

Oh, and the head and the skin? From LeLutka’s 12 Days of Christmas giveaway, which has become quite the thing to look forward to each December.

The Loneliest Inn

The Loneliest Inn

The inn was situated far out on a remote peninsula, with vast woods to travel through before one reached it. However, it was said to serve the best ale in the kingdom to the lonely travellers who would make their way there. How and why that had come to be, no one knew for sure.

Well, I needed some little explanation for why the tavern by NeonSheep—one of several related releases for the November round of We Love Role-Play—seems to be situated out in the middle of nowhere. ;) The tavern building comes in three different versions, with different layouts, and the other releases from NeonSheep provide furnishings and food props such as the oven, the various chairs and the barrels, mugs and plates of food. There are many, many more furnishings and props that I am showing here.

My lonely traveller is wearing two other WLRP releases. First, the Herleif outfit from Rakshasa, consisting of tunic, belt and breeches. As always very customisable in the fatpack, with tons of texture options. Over this outfit he is wearing the Noa cape from Stitched, which comes in two sizes for each body so it can be worn over clothing or over nothing but the body. I love how well these two items went together.

Oh, and look at the Chesnut hair from the Truth Collective, it works on a male avatar too.
