Mistress of the Manor

Mistress of the Manor

The April round of We Love Role-Play opened yesterday and my first choice of scene to build ended up a touch gothic. In a stark manor inherited from a distant cousin, a young heiress has taken up residence all by herself. She dresses as she would for the city and stands out in the gloomy suroundings.

The Rosalie Gown by Ruxy sets features soft draping and delicate structure which gives an impression of refinement without excess. The silhouette feels period-inspired without being rigid, and the spring green paired with the patterned panel adds just enough contrast to catch the light in subtle ways. I paired it with the Edith earrings by Sublime, understated but elegant.

The manor by PROPS! dominates the countryside it sits in and within it is dark and austere. You have a choice between two different size, much appreciated as many builds in Second Life run too big for my tastes. The smaller size also suited the main furnishings which are also available at WLRP; the antique wing chair from Lorien and the dressed from Laminak.

The Perils of Power

The Perils of Power

This ended up so much more moody than I had imagined at first. The regal lady, with her ornate headdress and dramatic gown (I love how the horns of the Escoffion by Grasshopper Street are echoed in the Melisende gown by Ruxy), seems both powerful and vulnerable, drinking her wine in solitude even though there are other glasses on the table. Did she expect someone to join her? What happened to keep them away?

The Escoffion is closely modelled on an actual historical headdress and can be extensively customised with textures and tints. It comes in a rigged and an unrigged version. The Melisende gown also offers several texture options for different parts of the gown.

The Labyrinth set of wine glasses, bottle and decanter is made by Cerridwen’s Cauldron and the Darkmoore chair and the table are by Noctis. Like the escoffion and the gown, they are available at the new round of We Love Role-Play, and everything is discounted for the duration of the event.

Vampire Queen

Only two days remain for the current round of We Love Role-Play and there are definitely some nice things available. Remember, everything is discounted (between 15% and 30%) while at the event, so if you see something you like it is a good time to pick it up.

Taking my cue from the Gothic Castle from Nocturna Deed and the Bloodbane sword from Axis Mundi, I needed an outfit that looked right on someone wielding that sword and living in that castle. Ruxy’s Aesira was a good start, but it was the addition of Nefekalum’s tattoos that sealed the deal. I also found a good use for one of my Hair Fair purchases, the No Legends hair from No Match.

The Marquise’s Pet

The Marquise’s Pet

The Kayra outfit from Ruxy is quite deliciously daring and would be an excellent choice for a dancer or slave girl, or perhaps in a harem. Here, I set up the revamped Marquise armchair from Libertine in Fanatik’s Dungan castle, which comes with the fireplace in the background. The Marquise chair comes in Mature and Adult versions and includes quite a few solo poses as well. It is also texture change, offering Libertine’s usual range of colours.

Adding a touch of mystery is the ornate face mask from Nefekalum, which includes both left and right halves. I liked the way it looks with the long and luscious Everleigh hair, which is a new Truth Collective style from Truth and Wasabi.
