Tracing the Threads of History and Fantasy

Visions of Egypt

Visions of Egypt

A short and sweet one for today. Grasshopper Street’s release for We Love Role-Play in May is the beautiful Nefertiti Crown and their gift for this Birthday Round is a matching handheld mirror with Egyptian decorations. I found an Egyptian-inspired outfit—rather loosely inspired, admittedly—from Aurora for a previous WLRP round and wandered off to my little oasis to setup an evening scene with decor from Lore and Libertine.

The Marquise’s Pet

The Marquise’s Pet

The Kayra outfit from Ruxy is quite deliciously daring and would be an excellent choice for a dancer or slave girl, or perhaps in a harem. Here, I set up the revamped Marquise armchair from Libertine in Fanatik’s Dungan castle, which comes with the fireplace in the background. The Marquise chair comes in Mature and Adult versions and includes quite a few solo poses as well. It is also texture change, offering Libertine’s usual range of colours.

Adding a touch of mystery is the ornate face mask from Nefekalum, which includes both left and right halves. I liked the way it looks with the long and luscious Everleigh hair, which is a new Truth Collective style from Truth and Wasabi.

Lounging in Style

Lounging in Style

For Midnight Order, Grasshopper Street takes you back to the early 20th century with a daring lounging set in silk tulle and satin and a matching turban that is sold separately. The texture huds include both pre-set textures and further tinting abilities. The Zelda pumps are an earlier release, but matched well in style and colour to the lounging set.

For lounging, I am using the Ladies Chaise from the Swan Lake series by DICTATORSHOP, a very opulent line of furnishings with a nice selection of animations. This version of the chaise has single animations, PG couple animations and Adult couple (MF) animations. The matching dressing screen can be glimpsed in the mirror, which is the Ornate Mirror from Dutchie.

The beautiful pale skin is Nar Mattaru’s Hela, worn on Kaya.

In Gothic Solitude

In Gothic Solitude

Welcome back to Otherworldly, now finally on its own domain that I have been sitting on for years. And to celebrate that, a new and more modern web design, a collaboration between myself and a very helpful fellow called ChatGPT. There are a few little tweaks left here and there, but I am amazed how smooth the process was and I am excited to get back to blogging in fresh, new surroundings. Of course, I may be slightly distracted by an urge to also redesign my other two sites…

Anyways! Since I finally had some time to play around in SL again, I went over to the Midnight Order event and had to resist the urge to buy every other item on sale. It really is one of the best of the currently active events, drawing in some top notch creators who always deliver interesting designs.  Lore, for example, has two beautiful skyboxes at the event, one dark (that would be the one I am using here) and one light. I can see plenty of use for both of them, they have a versatile layout and I really like that the scale is quite reasonable for SL. They are also very beautifully textured with PBR textures and projectors; the stained glass windows look amazing.

The chairs, the table and the rug you might glimpse in the first shot are all by Libertine and available at Midnight Order as well, the rug being a special gift. The gothic Canterbury Chairs are available in two versions, one that sits a single person and one that also includes Moderate and Adult couple poses. Each version offers four beautiful PBR-compatible wood textures.

My outfit is not new, but I actually failed to show off the beautiful Dyanna dress from Old Treasures when I first bought it some months back. Its a fantastic fantasy/period gown and the Mathilde choker, also from Old Treasures, is a perfect accessory for it. And the hair, Magika’s Four of Swords, is a favourite I am happy to return to again.
